If you wear PNW boots, please choose your usual American Heritage boot size, so, for example, if you wear Nicks, Whites, or Red Wing Iron Rangers in 10 D/E, go with Bordon 43 E/10 E. Our last was developed to be well-balanced and fit most of the D-width-shaped feet.
If you haven't used an American Heritage boot brand, please follow the next steps to measure your foot:
What You’ll Need

2 blank sheets of paper (larger than your foot)

A sharp pencil or fine pen

A ruler (centimeters preferred)

Tape (to secure paper to the floor)

The socks you plan to wear with your boots
Before You Start
- Measure your feet at the end of the day.
- Wear the same socks you’ll use with the boots.
- Measure both feet.
- Stand while tracing (IF POSSIBLE, ask someone for help).
- Use a hard floor (not carpet).
Step 1: Prepare the Setup

Place one sheet of paper flat on the floor.

Tape it down so it doesn’t move.
-
Stand naturally on the paper with your full weight evenly distributed.

Keep your foot flat and relaxed.
Step 2: Trace Your Foot

Hold the pencil completely vertical (90° to the floor).
-
Carefully trace around your entire foot.
-
Keep the pencil lightly touching your foot. Do not angle it underneath.
-
Stay still and balanced while tracing.
-
Once finished, step off the paper.
Repeat the entire process with the other foot on a new sheet.
Step 3: Measure Foot Length

Identify the tip of your longest toe on the tracing (this may be the big toe or the second toe).

Draw a straight horizontal line across the tracing at the tip of this toe.

Next, identify the very back of the heel.
-
Draw another straight horizontal line across the tracing at the back of the heel.
-
Now draw one straight vertical line between these two horizontal lines to represent the maximum foot length.

Measure this vertical line using a ruler.
-
Record the measurement in centimeters.
This vertical line represents the total length of your foot.
Repeat the process for the other foot.
👉 Use the longer of the two measurements as your primary reference.
The measurements in the below table are for the last, so your foot measurement should always be shorter than the last measurement.
As a general guideline, the room space in the last should be approximately 1.3 to 2 cm longer than your foot length. This additional space allows for:

Natural toe movement

Comfort while walking
-
Proper fit when wearing socks
For example:
If your foot length measures 27 cm, the ideal last length would typically fall between 28.3 cm and 29 cm.
Please keep in mind that in traditional bespoke and custom bootmaking, the recommended allowance between the foot length and the last is up to 1.5 cm at most. This provides the ideal balance between comfort and proper foot support.
If you personally prefer a slightly roomier fit, a larger allowance may be used, but we generally do not recommend exceeding 2 cm, as too much extra space may affect the overall fit and performance of the boot.
Step 4: Measure Foot Width

On your tracing, locate the widest part of your foot (usually across the ball area below the toes).

Draw a straight horizontal line across the widest points from one side of the tracing to the other.

Measure this distance in centimeters.

Record the measurement.
Repeat for the other foot.
👉 Use the wider of the two measurements.
Selecting Your Width
Once you have measured the width of your foot from the tracing, you can use the following guidelines to select the appropriate width.

Below 10.9 cm → Select E

11.0 cm – 11.9 cm → Select EE
-
12.0 cm – 12.9 cm → Select EEE
If your measurement is 13 cm or wider, please contact us (sizing.assessment@bordon.com.co) so we can assess your measurements and recommend the best width option for your boots.
Important:
It is completely normal for one foot to be slightly larger or wider than the other. However, if the difference between your left and right foot measurements is significant, we offer a mismatched sizing or width option, where each boot can be made in a different size or width to ensure the best possible fit.
If your measurements differ noticeably or if you are unsure about your results, please send them to us, and we will gladly review them with you and recommend the best sizing for your boots.

For the initial sizing, we recommend using only the foot length and width measurements shown above, as these will work for most customers and help keep the process simple.
However, if you feel unsure about your sizing or believe your feet may require additional assessment, you may also measure the ball circumference of your foot for a more detailed evaluation.
You can follow the instructions below to take this measurement and send it to us along with your tracings and measurements, and our team will gladly review them to help determine the most appropriate size and width for your boots.
Step 5: Ball Circumference

Stand naturally with your weight evenly distributed.

Using a soft measuring tape, wrap it around the widest part of your foot, across the ball area (the same area used for the width measurement).

The tape should pass:

Around the joint behind the big toe
-
Around the joint behind the little toe
-
Across the top and bottom of the foot.

Make sure the tape is snug but not tight.
-
Record the measurement in centimeters.
Repeat the process for the other foot.
