Handmade Boots from a beginner perspective

Handmade Boots from a beginner perspective

I have heard that "Good things take time" but I have never realized how true there is in this phrase. In these times we are expecting everything to be immediate, to have all that we want in a few hours, minutes, or even seconds. So I totally understand when someone gets confused when we said that it takes 3-4 months to get a pair of Bordon.

To be honest, I was one of those people that got stressed because we were taking more than the expected time producing our boots, many of you might know that our brand has few people behind it. One of them is Andres, from some months ago we have had more control over our production process which means Andres is making 80% of the boots that you wear, just by himself. So imagine the pressure that I had on him, asking him why we were taking that much time producing and delivering our boots. My bad !!!

All this perception changed when I started helping him in the workshop, I have to be honest with you, I like what we do but after looking at all the passion and love that he puts on each pair of boots, that makes me LOVE what we do. It's incredible if we look some years ago, the progress that we have had, actually, it is only one year since we change our business model and start producing boots in Colombia; but if you didn't know that, you probably would say that all the progress from the first pair of boots till now, would be many years for sure. How can this be possible? The answer is simple, this is possible only because of the passion and love that we put into the things we do.

We really want to give you the best, and we always took your feedback in order to innovate and improve each and every day.

Getting back to the handmade process, it's incredible the number of steps that it has, just to give you an idea, just in the heeling process there are more than 20 steps and in the finishing process more than 50. So imagine how many steps there are in the pair of boots you wear. And now think that every step is done with high detail, it for sure is something that will not be done in a few hours or minutes.

Just to finish, now that I got a little bit longer than what I was expecting, just think the following, if you wait for a music concert 3 - 4 months in many cases even a year, only for 2 or 3 hours of joy; Why you can't wait the same time for decades of joy? Yes, once you receive a Bordon pair of boots you will feel that it will last for decades.

Don't forget we have to stop thinking of immediate satisfactions rather than think of long-term pleasures. Our goal is to make you love Bordon, give them the chance and let us know how can we improve, is the only way we can continue doing it :)

So worth the wait! My new Tukano boots in burgundy arrived this week and I couldn’t be happier with the result

Take all the time you need. Those boots are made by people, not a machine. Good things come to those who wait :-)
